Loss of a Shining Star

Tim Russert left this planet today. He was such a master at being a newscaster, honest, hard working, and giving equal time and equally hard times to all. We as a nation will miss his incisive, inquisitive and get to the point questioning of all who came on his show. In this most fascinating political season in decades, his voice of reason, logic and cold hard facts will be surely missed.

To call him a journalist would be an insult when you compare his body of work to “journalists” on Fox News (?)

He was more than that. He commanded respect and loyalty from his co-workers. It is only now that I realized he was actually a bureau chief (not to say he was not deserved of the title, just I was unaware of  his title).  I respected his hard driving interviews and the debates he presided over. His sense of humor was amazing and he always appeared to be having a BLAST!

This is the kind of life a person should want to life. A life where you impact people’s lives in a positive manner. A life where your work brings you joy and that joy is freely shared by all you encounter. In our case, his joy in his “work” was apparent to anyone who ever saw him interview a cagey subject or inject “reality” to those people who forgot things they previously said ( “would you like to see the tape?”)

I will miss him. My prayers go out to his family, his co-workers and our nation. His voice will be sorely missed as we continue in this amazing political season. Fly on sweet angel. You are loved and will be missed.
